About

I am a mother of 2 boys on a journey to discover myself in Asperger’s. I love animals, I’m fascinated by strong emotions and how people function, I love fantasy books and movies such as LotR (escapism), love reading, love researching and learning, and just do not understand certain things people do.

    Hi, Joan.
I’m a mom of 2 boys 1 girl– 1 boy is high on the spectrum (but presents like aspergers). Daughter has had anxiety issues. youngest boy has been diagnosed epileptic (last week). Daryl Hannah (Splash, Blade Runner) had autism, I read. I don’t know what it feels like inside the head/mind, but I can understand loneliness and depression and anxiety.

It feels different for everyone. Sometimes I can relate with my HF autistic brother, but we’re still rather different despite both being on the spectrum. Which is one reason I write down how I feel and how I think, how my brain works. I’ve read a lot of blogs and posts about parents of kids on the spectrum, and it’s interesting to get their perspective, but there’s hardly anything for adults on the spectrum trying to be parents.
Have you been to wrongplanet.net? It’s a great resource for anyone wanting to learn more about autism, adhd, ocd, schizophrenia and parenting kids with any of those.
